Red Pail with wooden handle

1 in stock

The red glaze on this Jomon inspired Pail vessel is simply delicious and would make a fantastic centrepiece.  The subtle mottling effect of the glaze gives a wonderful sensation of movement.  The found wooden handle has been attached using twine.

Jomon pottery, found in Japan,  dates from 16,000 BCE and is the oldest useable pottery so far discovered.  The vessels started as very simple forms and became more heavily decorated over time.  My interpretation of this ancient form

The Pail vessel stands approx 21cm tall and 9cm dia.  It is handbuilt using coils of white earthenware clay.  I supply a liner so it Pail vessel can be used with water
