This is going to sound a bit strange but bare with me….
Paint brushes make me anxious. I find them intimidating. So I usually apply glaze to my Moon Jars using a natural sponge – the ones with the holes. Except for this Moon Jar. I used a silicon brush to apply the white glaze hence the swish effect. The Turquoise was applied using a sponge as usual. I think the effect is striking and attractive – what do you think?
After glaze firing the Moon Jar was smoke fired giving those wonderful smoky tones to the naked areas of clay and accentuating the crackle in the glazes. The Moon Jar is handbuilt using white earthenware clay, so it’s not waterproof. It’s approx 13cm dia & ht.
